Bequia Rocks for Easter 2008!! 4/15/2008
Category: General

The Biggest One Design Fleet EVER! Let me say that again…ever in the Southern Caribbean. This year we had eleven J 24 boats racing in our own class. Most nations in the Southern Caribbean were represented. Unfortuneately, a bad north swell coming down with a cold front prevented 4 more boats from Barbados joining the regatta. Nonetheless many of the sailors from Barbados still came to party, race the camaraderie that Bequia regatta is known for.

This year has seen many ups and downs for the ISIS racing syndicate, but the privilege of being able to compete at this regatta felt like we were already victors. As many of you are aware ISIS was illegally removed from Barbados and suffered damage after being set adrift when she washed ashore in Palm Island. Three long months later Jerry Stuart and his team in Tyrell Bay Carriacou and their labor of love have brought ISIS back to life and here we are competing in the biggest one design fleet in this part of the Caribbean. A special mention has to go out to my friends who raced with me Charlie & Eddie Gloumeau, Anna Hosford, and Claire Burke.
